AeroPress Brew Guide Using Polar Espresso
A beginner-friendly brew with our Roastery Manager, Andrew
The festive season is here, and with it come busy mornings, early starts, and the need for great coffee without any fuss. That’s why the AeroPress shines at this time of year: quick to brew, easy to clean, and reliably delicious, perfect for keeping you caffeinated through gift wrapping, hosting, or dashing out into the winter chill.
This year’s Polar Espresso blend has been crafted to shine across all kinds of brew methods, but for our Roastery Manager Andrew, the AeroPress is his winter companion of choice, delivering a clean, sweet cup with all the brightness the season calls for.
Here is Andrew’s go-to Polar Espresso recipe to help you brew a warming, festive AeroPress at home.
What You’ll Need
-
Polar Espresso (freshly ground for AeroPress - somewhere between an espresso and a v60)
-
AeroPress (Original or Go)
-
AeroPress Filters Pack (350pcs)
-
Scale (optional but helpful)
-
Kettle
-
Carafe or mug
-
Timer
Coffee-to-Water Ratio
11g coffee : 200g boiling water at 100°C
Step-by-Step: Brew Like Andrew
1. Prepare the AeroPress
Place a paper filter into the filter cap. Screw the cap onto the Aeropress chamber and set it on top of your carafe or mug.
2. Add Your Polar Espresso
Weigh out 11g of Polar Espresso and add it to the AeroPress.
3. Add Hot Water
Pour 200g of freshly boiled water (100°C) directly into the chamber, filling it right to the top. Make sure all the grounds are evenly coated.

4. Steep
Allow the coffee to steep for 2 minutes. This gives the AeroPress time to extract a clean, full-bodied cup.
5. Agitate
After 2 minutes, give the coffee a gentle stir to ensure full saturation. Just enough to loosen the grounds and encourage even extraction.
6. Press
Remove the carafe from your scale, insert the plunger, and press slowly with light, steady pressure to avoid pushing grounds through the filter. Serve immediately to stop over-extraction.

What to Expect in the Cup
This year marks our fourth release of Polar Espresso, and each season we’ve refined and layered its profile to bring out warmth, sweetness and a gentle winter comfort.
Flavour Notes:
With tasting notes of stone fruits, cinnamon, and almond, along with a sweet undertone of caramel apple, this warming coffeehouse favourite offers a festive, seasonal experience - perfect for slow winter mornings.
Why Brew Polar Espresso in an AeroPress?
The Aeropress combines immersion brewing with gentle pressure, allowing for even extraction and a naturally full-bodied cup. This method enhances Polar Espresso’s sweetness while preserving its cosy richness.
This brewing method delivers:
-
A richer mouthfeel
-
Deeper, rounded sweetness
-
A clean yet comforting brew - ideal for relaxed, slow sipping
The 1:18 recipe used here is remarkably reliable - beginner-friendly, and equally effective with the Original Aeropress and the Aeropress Go.
